In 1870 Francisco Menendez started what eventually would become Finca Santa Leticia. Outside of coffee, Menendez was the founder of the modern education system of El Salvador and was elected the constitutional President in 1886. He adopted one of the most progressive constitutions in Latin America and in his honor, El Salvador celebrates teachers day on June 22 of every year. Today, Finca Santa Leticia is owned and operated by the grandsons of Francisco Menendez, Ricardo and Mauricio Valdivieso. Cerrito de Apaneca, where the property is located, is considered to be one of the best places in Latin America to grow coffee. This coffee is very unique and unlike any weve tried to day. The bouquet is very floral in contrast to the flavor which is tangy. In the cup this bourbon varietal exhibits hints of toasted, buttered bread and a rich taste, almost reminiscent of walnuts.
